Boat for Hope Goes Virtual in 2020 - with music by "Follow Your Heart" singer/songwriter-Todd Richard Every summer since 1999, BC's kids with special needs and their families gather for a day of pirate-themed adventure on the high seas at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club for Boat for Hope, a fundraiser in support of Variety - the Children’s Charity. The Boat for Hope Committee takes great pride knowing that over the past 22 years, this event, with the support of the club and its members, has raised $2.5 million for Variety BC. Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions put in place by the BC Health Authorities, it will not be possible to host the traditional Boat for Hope event in 2020. The event will now take place in the parking lot of Coquitlam Centre with each corner of the lot decorated as a “Treasure Island”. Families will be invited to drive through the event from the comfort of their own vehicles while the children receive loot bags and pre-packaged refreshments will be provided to families as a replacement for the event’s usual “Land Event BBQ” and music by "Follow Your Heart" songwriter Todd Richard A sub-committee has been formed to ensure all measures are taken to ensure the health and safety of all attendees in regards to the ongoing pandemic. The Boat for Hope Committee appreciates your support over the years and is disappointed that club members will not be able to witness this amazing event this year.
